Jim Fogarty. A horse whisperer and gentling specialist has had a passion for horses for most of his life.
Jim enjoys working with horses riders/owners experiencing problems. To date he has been very successful in his undertakings particularly the more challenging or difficult horses.
Early training was undertaken in conventional methods of B.H.S.Principals. Most of this took place at The Kellet riding facilities in County Kildare. The standard was exceptionally high and strict. During this time Jim competed in Show Jumping, Dressage and Hunted.
Upon the sale of the Kill facility (Now Kill International) Jim was lucky to have his horses Liveried at Iris Kelletts Home Daffodil Lodge Stud. Rathmore Kildare. These facilities were fabulous and very private and have a very high standard. Top class tuition was available by The Legendary show jumper Iris Kellett and they became very good friends. Competition opportunities were plentiful during the season of two or three times a week and three local hunt packs meant many more opportunities.
It was here in 1991approx that Jim was introduced to Monty Roberts and Horse whispering as he was giving a demonstration at Iris’s Home. It was the first time M.R visited Ireland and it was a new experience for most. Jim attended many more demos by Monty and was convinced this was the better way for training.
For the last 12 years Jim has his horses at his farm and undertook Breeding some Thoroughbreds and retaining a Home bred entire horse. During this time and due to injuries Jim undertook extensive studies in Coaching (completing level 2) EFI. He travelled extensively through Europe-UK- Russia-America. Studying and observing various ways of training and handling horses and addressing problems. The results are a comprehensive understanding that is complete from starting horses addressing behaviour and confidence issues in horse and riders and riding.
Jim a very active rider has always had a deep interest in competition and in developing his whispering and gentling skills has ensured that they are compatible with his coaching skills improving competition horses and quality of life and enhanced performance for horse and rider.
